SC&RF Announces Recipients of June Round of Vocational/Technical Scholarships

 - The Vocational/Technical Scholarship program and the Partners in Education program of the SC&RF have 7 rounds annually and 10-15 applicants per round. Individuals are selected to receive free or reduced tuition toward training with a Partner in Education organization (ATS, CICB, ITI, Morrow Equipment Company or NCCCO). Additionally, the SC&RF has $27,000 total allocated to be awarded as financial assistance in 2020.

The recipient of the Vocational/Technical Scholarship for the June round is Osiel Alonzo. He is awarded $4,500 to be used toward a Crane Operator course at West Coast Crane. He is also the recipient of the White Brothers Continuing Education Scholarship. Alonzo is a recent high school graduate and eager to begin a career in the crane and rigging industry.

The June Partner In Education Scholarships are awarded to:

  • Brandon Manning with 100 percent tuition for the CICB Rigger Level I/Signal Person Course. He is a rigger for Southern Lifting and Hoisting in Kilgore, Texas. He is looking to expand his rigging knowledge to better serve the crane operators and possible future job opportunities.
  • Elisabeth Eggleston with 50 percent tuition for the CICB Crane Operator Course. She is pursuing additional experience with heavy equipment operation after getting her CDL and working in the oil field for four years. She enjoys learning how to operate machinery and how the machines work and sees this course as investment in her career.
  • Andrew Brosnac  with 100 percent tuition for the Morrow Tower Crane Operator Course. He is currently working for Maxim Cranes as an oiler. He is excited and fascinated by cranes and is working toward a Tower Crane Certification.
  • Ishmael Muhammad with 50 percent tuition for the CICB Crane Operator Course. He operated a crane in 2016 and then moved on to factory work. With COVID-19 impacting employment in so many areas, he is hoping to increase his knowledge as a crane operator and re-enter the industry because of the stability and opportunity this career offers.

The next deadline for scholarships is August 31. These are open to the public. For more information visit www.scr-foundation.org or contact Jackie Roskos.
