(March 30, 2017)- SC&RA members are encouraged to participate in the SC&R Foundation’s 2017 Benchmark Study that measures key financial indicators of business health. The study is focused on member companies operating in the specialized transport, rigging, or crane rental industries. With two separate $10,000 underwriters, Hays Companies and Unified Logistics Group, the study offers members a unique opportunity to receive high-quality professional metrics research, free of charge.
Participating companies will be provided benchmarks that work as points of reference when attempting to determine financial and operational efficiency, which can help them measure performance, set goals, and monitor achievements.
Benchmarks can be established in many different ways, including the following:
- Comparing past performance.
- Comparing actual results to budgets, targets, or goals.
- Comparison with industry averages.
Industry benchmarks can also help answer questions such as:
- How productive is a company?
- How much profit is a company earning?
- How is a company managing its cash?
- How financially strong is a company?.
The study intends to develop a benchmark system more complex than a simple analysis of sales growth. Labor and equipment efficiency are an especially important focus. These areas set specific targets for what top industry businesses achieve in metrics such as revenue and gross profit per direct labor, equipment utilization, and more.
