The SC&R Foundation recently awarded grants ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 to four individuals wishing to further careers related to the crane, rigging and specialized transportation industry through continuing education courses or vocational/technical college programs.
The Foundation selects its grants winners on a rolling basis. The latest SC&R Foundation grant recipients are:
- Larissa Kirk, whose responsibilities have included accounting since joining Deep South Crane & Rigging, Houston, Texas in June 2014, plans to use her $3,525 grant for accounting coursework at San Jacinto College, Pasadena, Texas.
- Preston Sheck, who has worked as a service technician and air conditioning installer at Daryl’s AC & Heating, League City, Texas since April 2014, plans to use his $3,000 grant for coursework from the Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau, Houston, Texas.
- Corey Walters, who has worked as a boilermaker at Jacobs Construction, La Porte, Texas since May 2012, plans to use $5,000 grant for coursework from the Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau, Houston, Texas.
- Benjamin White, who has worked as a farm laborer at Pickering Farm, Oakland, Ill. since Jan. 2013, plans to use his $3,000 grant for diesel technician coursework at Lincoln College of Technology, Indianapolis, Ind.
The Foundation has $15,000 remaining its grant program for 2015. Grants range from $1,000 to $5,000 each and are awarded for courses or classes taken within 12 months of being received. Upcoming deadlines Oct. 31 and Dec. 31.
The Foundation also continues to award annual scholarships to students working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in preparation for careers related to crane, rigging and specialized transportation.
