Basic Rigger/Signalperson
Mike Parnell, senior consultant and co-founder of Industrial Training International, explains the primary job tasks and responsibilities for a basic rigger/signalperson. Working as an assistant to a journey level or master rigger, basic rigger/signalpersons must have knowledge of the equipment, hitches, and tools needed to properly attach to a load. In addition, this role requires inspection of all rigging equipment used and knowledge of how to protect slings from damage.
In related information, a video from NBIS explains that a crane signalperson acts as the “crane operator’s eyes and ears on the ground.”
