Anderson Contributes $25,000 to Corporate Named Grant Program
The SC&R Foundation has received a generous donation of $25,000 from Anderson Trucking Service, Inc. to fund a Corporate Named Grant. Plans call for funding of $5,000 in grants annually, beginning in 2015. Foundation’s grants are dedicated to those wishing to further their careers through continuing education courses or a vocational/technical college programs. Among the many possibilities are driving classes to obtain a commercial driver’s license or welding classes.
Anderson joins TNT Crane & Rigging, which awarded the Foundation’s first Corporate Named Grant earlier this year. TNT plans to fund annual $1,500 grants for three years.
This summer, the Foundation plans to open up another round of grants with a goal of awarding a total of $30,000 in grants in 2014. Besides increasing grant funding, the Foundation plans to open up the program to those not employed by SC&RA member companies. This strategic change is another step the Foundation is taking to help member companies fill the industry’s labor shortage.
